The Shroud of Turin

I was glued to the television last night watching History Channel’s “The Shroud of Turin”. It was a two hour documentary about how a team of graphic artist tried to recreate the real face of Jesus by taking information and blood encoded on the Turin Shroud and transforming it into a 3D image.

The bloodied linen cloth bears the image of a man who appears to have suffered physical trauma in a manner consistent with crucifixion. It was thought that this person was Jesus. The image on the shroud is in natural sepia color but comes out clearer in black and white negative. Even though the person in this shroud suffered horrible beatings, cuts and eventually died on the cross but amazingly his face showed only calmness and peace, as if someone who is asleep. This is impossible! When living things dies, it will slowly decompose and the blood, rotting tissues would have definitely soiled the cloth wrapping it. There would definitely be no distinguishable image. And yet this shroud preserved the image of this person as according to the bible, Jesus died and was resurrected. To me this is the only logical explanation.

People long gone can still be remembered by their photos and for me this is the same with this Turin Shroud. It is a will of a man who wishes for us to remember him and in remembering him, remembers his life, his teachings and his faith in God. That is why the shroud survives to this century.

Most of Jesus images were based on the face on the shroud of Turin.

"Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do."

Jesus Blesses the Little Children

(Mark 10:13-16; Luke 18:15-17)
"Then some little children were brought to him so that he might lay his hands on them and pray. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus, however, said, “Let the little children come to me, and stop keeping them away, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to people like these.” When he had laid his hands on them, he went on from there."

Innocence and pure of heart will save us.
